The key lab belonging to the university of Huaihai Institute of Technology was established on Dec. 2004, and is guided by the academic committee in which the chair is Academician Fazhen Zhao and Prof. Guofan Zhang. Now, the direct is prof. Binlun Yan. There are three research interesting: marine biology products, marine biology disease, and marine biology germplasm resources (including the genetic breeding of aqucluture spieces).The total building area is about 1200 m2, and the total investment amount exceeds 10 million RMB. Many precision apparatus, such as Gas Chromatography/Mass Spetrometer, atomic-absorption spectrophotometer, fluorescence microscope, Real-time PCR machine, and automatic amino-acid analyzer etc. have been purchased.
At present, we have an excellent research group, in which there are 12 professors and 18 vice professors. Since the establishment of the lab in 2004, more than 30 research projects were funded by the nation, Jiangsu province and ministries. Six national, provincial or ministerial level Scientific and Technological Progress Award were got by our groups. In addition, more than 300 higher level papers have been published in the name of Jiangsu key laborotory of marine biotechnology.
